Making Salt
AIM- to produce sodium chloride salt by caring out neutralization reaction.

EQUIPMENT- 50 mL beakers,dilute HCI (hydrchloric acid),dilute NaOH (sodim hydrxiode),25 mL measuring cylinder,a glass stirring rod,spotting tile,universal indicator solution,tripod,gauze mat,Bunsen burner,evaporating basin.

METHOD-
1. using the mesuring cylinder measure 10 mL of HCI and pour it into your 50 mL beaker
2. every 10-15 drops stop adding the NaHO and use the glasss stirring rod to transfer a drop of the solution to a spotting tile.Test its pH using universal indicator.
3. keep adding NaHO and testing the solution by repeating step 2.As you get closer to neutral you may need to tes the solution after every drop.
4. pour the neutral solution into an evaporating basin and evaporate the water out of the solution using the equipment set up shown above.

observation-
The vapor from the water turned the neutral solution to small particles of salt

Curiosity Topic

I wonder why Pluto is a dwarf planet ?

From this  website I've learnt that Pluto was spotted, it was thought to be the predicted object and was identified as a ninth planet.
A few decades later, astronomers started discovering more and more objects around other stars and didn’t know whether to call them planets or not. There appeared to be a need to define what a planet means, and that led to what some people consider Pluto’s demotion to a dwarf planet.
The International Astronomical Union decided that full-sized planets must orbit the sun, have a round shape, and have cleared their orbits of other objects. Pluto fulfills the first two criteria, but not the third.
It still goes around the sun, it’s round enough, it’s got moons, and behaves like a planet, but the idea is that Pluto did not form the same way as the rest of the planets. Pluto’s orbit is both unconventional and favorable more than the rest of the planets by about 17 degrees. That’s suggests something is different about this object.
Now this makes me wonder why how did we have the rest of the planets

technology presentation

What is technology?
Technology has changed human life. The use of  technology in our lives can be seen in education, infrastructure development, health and medicine, manufacturing, exploration research, communication, security, infrastructure and transport and logistics. Technologies such as the Internet are key to business, in communication, data management, and storage. Any field that has failed to utilize technology is obsolete and outdated. People, institutions and even companies are looking at technology for change and transformation.

testing pH

AIM: to test the pH of a range of household chemicals.
EQUIPMENT:a variety of house hold chemicals,spotting tile,red litmus paper,blue litmus paper,Universal indicator solution,safety glasses.

METHOD:
1- add a few drops of each chemicalto a spot on your spotting tile.If a substance is solid or powdered you will need to mix it with a few drops of water before testing it.
2-test chemicals with litmus papers.
3-test each chemical with a few drops of universal indicator.
RESULTS:

chemical being tested colour in blue litmus clour in red litmus colour in universal indicator
Morning fresh purple red green
Harpic purple red yellow
dettol redredyellow
bam blue blue purple

arguing on a point

school uniform should be important

why is school uniform important?
I agree that school uniform is important because it makes everyone feel equal.it is the pride of the school.it is a school rule, if there wasn't a school rule to wear an uniform students would be bullied and compared to others. Most students would like to be the way there peers/friends are and some students would be neglected by their friends. The school uniform also can be stylish in colour pattern.

A school uniform can be asolution to these problems.

what did i do well ?
it was a new experince in ESOL with miss Briggs.I got to learn new things and new words. I think i really did well on writting the main idea of each text we read. It is a really good way of understanding the text. I also got to learn the three ways of reading a text. It was quite intresting to know there are three ways to understand a text.

what could i have done better ?
I could have learnt the main perpose of reading the text in three diffrent ways .I could have tried to learn the difficult words and the meanings of it.

what i will do next ?
i can improve my litrecy skills .I will improve my researching skills and be ready for year 11
