what makes a home earthquake proof?

Aim- to make a earthquake proof home.

Research- One way to to make a house more resistant to earthquakes is to tie the walls, floor, roof, and foundations into a rigid box that holds together when shaken by a quake.

Equipment -

                     4 pieces of paper
                     4 cotton buds
                     6 thin sticks
                     3 small+ 1 large cork
                     2 foam cups
                     scissors+tape

Result-
                   was it the tallest?
                   did it look the best?
                   was it earth quake proof

was it successful? why/why not ?

  • No, because it was small and slippery
what do architects do to make a super tall buildings safe?

  • safety considerations, not just engineering capability.
