what makes a home earthquake proof?
Aim- to make a earthquake proof home.
Research- One way to to make a house more resistant to earthquakes is to tie the walls, floor, roof, and foundations into a rigid box that holds together when shaken by a quake.
Equipment -
4 pieces of paper
4 cotton buds
6 thin sticks
3 small+ 1 large cork
2 foam cups
scissors+tape
Result-
was it the tallest?
did it look the best?
was it earth quake proof
was it successful? why/why not ?
- No, because it was small and slippery
- right environmental conditions
- safety considerations, not just engineering capability.
- to ensure the design is safe and meets all appropriate building codes
